 Ashley Thomas, Performance Manager – Operations

After completing a degree in Criminology BSc at the University of Southampton my career aspiration has always been to work within the Prison Sector and Criminal Justice System. After volunteering for HMP Cardiff  working with the Employment Officer, I was sign posted to n-ergy, with the information that there were vacancies available supporting ex-offenders into employment on their release. I joined n-ergy in November 2012 as an Employability Consultant for the South Wales Region.

Three years later, I was promoted to Employment Manager for all Employability Services offered at n-ergy covering the South West of England, the North West, Midlands and South Wales. My team built rapport with local and national employers to secure employment opportunities and a second chance for their candidates on their release from custody.

Five years on, I am now the Performance Manager for Operations and based at n-ergy’s Head Office in Bridgend, with the overall responsibility of n-ergy’s day-to-day operations including performance management, profiling and business planning as well as the creating and implementation of the company’s strategic plans. One of my personal learning and development aims in respect of my CPD has been to gain Chartered Management status and I have recently passed CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.

 

Sarah O’Mahoney, Performance Manager – Central Services

Whilst working as a Business Trainer within the financial services industry, I gained flair and ambition for the Adult Education Sector.  I have always been passionate about education and enjoy seeing people develop and achieve their career aspiration and potential.  I took the opportunity to explore this further and this led to a career in Apprenticeship delivery.

In 2011, I joined n-ergy as a Training Advisor and realised early on in my career that it was the company for me, and a company where I could make a difference to an individual’s life.  Within the same year, I successfully achieved a promotion to Regional Team Leader for Wales and two-years later in 2013, Regional Manager for Wales and Midlands.

Four years on, in August 2017, I was promoted to Performance Manager – Central Services with overall responsibility for Administration, Data, Quality and Compliance within the business. This role has given me the opportunity to focus on driving quality and performance within n-ergy to ensure that we provide the best possible service to our learners and stakeholders.

Not one to shy away from opportunity, I have to date achieved PTTL’s, ILM Level 5, completed the n-ergy Leadership and Management Programme. I am now developing my skills further in to Human Resources and have recently completed my first HR qualification.  I enjoy working for a forward-thinking company who really do have the learner’s interest at the heart of everything we do.

 

 Matt Tucker – Internal Quality Advisor (IQA)

My journey with n-ergy started in 2010 in the role of Training Advisor for HM Prison Exeter and HM Prison Channings Wood. After two years of employment, I developed my skills into quality and compliance.

I was promoted shortly after to IQA for the South West Region.  My role as an IQA is varied and I have supported all regions within the company ensuring that standards are met, processes and procedures are followed and that the learner journey has continuously developed.

I am an ISO Auditor for the company and recently, developed this role further by taking over the ISO administrative responsibilities.

I have recently completed a Leadership and Management Programme with n-ergy and an Information, Advice and Guidance qualification. I am looking forward to progressing further and my Line Manager is now providing me with mentoring as I look to pursue my career in Line Management.
